Trash Your TV – Steve Jobs on TV and People

A lot of rumors are going on about Steve’s new baby called Apple’s television set. You can find all sorts of predictions and excitement regarding it.

“I finally cracked it…” What does Steve meant there?

Well, it was a pain in the ass to find this clip. I was watching a two hour long blurry presentation and he came up with it. I was literally AMAZED to see how common the perspectives of positive and passionate have.

(thanks to all the guys and media to share this, the below video that I created was featured on some TV channels, news and media websites including business insider.)

Watch it here:

Okay, so now you got what he is trying to say.

“When you’re young, you look at television and think, there’s a conspiracy. The networks have conspired to dumb us down. But when you get a little older, you realize that’s not true. The networks are in business to give people exactly what they want.”  -  Steve Jobs

If you’ve been through my Igniter Frameworks™ program, you may have noticed that I literally screams there to trash your TV. Especially general news. If TV lowers your I.Q, general news destroys your positive perspective.

“Fox News is a destructive force in our society…” Steve Jobs to Rupert Murdoch in his biography by W. Isaacson.

Listen, your perspective is the most important tool you have and will ever have. It shapes your thinking and your view points.

My point is that don’t let other forces shape it. Passion is a branch that is originated from your sub-conscious perspective. If your passion is altered, you’re doomed.

“In Beverly Hills… they don’t throw their garbage away. They make it into television shows.” – Woody Allen

So, the point is how to get the entertainment?

Easy, use Netflix to watch specific episodes of non-rumor based show. Like Dexter, Family Guy, the Simpsons and south park.

It is okay to watch up to an hour per day, but more than that is not good. You gotto get your brain cells running.

I wish there was a knob on the TV so you could turn up the intelligence.  They got one marked “brightness” but it don’t work, does it?  – Leo Anthony Gallagher

Do something productive and reward yourself by renting out a movie on Netflix. A good one.

Television is not sexy anymore, specially the celebrity gossip stuff and general news. Once you get control of your TV viewing, not only you reduce the negative effects; you can new and  completely different life. Take a few moments to imagine the life you could create apart from your TV.

It’s the menace that everyone loves to hate but can’t seem to live without.  – Paddy Chayevsky

Without these sensationalized and negative news to get your attention so that you can hook up longer and they get paid more, you’ll be much happier and positive.

Watching TV for a long time leads to sedentary life style and because of its addiction it becomes a routine, which you know isn’t sexy. It makes you FAT! Ladies! Stop watching TV and you’ll be much sexier!

What happens when kids see 50,000 commercials, 14,000 sex references & 18,000 murders? And these stats are from usmayors.org from 1996, it has been reported that it has grown significantly.

Life doesn’t imitate art, it imitates bad television. – Woody Allen

See, here is the thing… television is a magnificent tool we’ve created, but how we use it makes impact on our life. If you can control television, rather than your TV controlling your view point and perspective, you’ll be much happier and more realistic.

You know, someone I can’t remember, said that the Television is nothing but a drug that corrupts minds and distorts perception, hence why we made this music video for the folks at MTV to air in-between commercials for Pepsi and acne medication?

It clearly shapes your perception, your wishes and wants. And your passion is all about your dreams and when it gets distorted you’re doomed.

So from now, I want you to make a commitment, I mean a real commitment.

You’re gonna control your TV and not let it control you.

Use Netflix to rent a movie per week. Watch your favorite show. One episode per day. Avoid general news and gossip stuff, and watch stuff from educational channels. There is a documentary called “Life” narrated by David Attenborough from BBC. Go watch it, it’s wonderful and amazing.

And cut off your cable or throw your satellite TV connection off.

I believe that the new age is arriving, especially with this Apple’s new TV thing, I believe it will give us a remote to control what WE want to watch instead of what “they” want us to watch. Obviously it’s a multi-billion dollar industry and they use this negative shit because it easily grabs your attention. They are here to make money. They will keep doing it. So don’t expect someone else to change them, you gotto change yourself.

I don’t have cable or satellite connection. I watch one episode per day, for 20 to 45 minutes. (Netflix don’t have commercial!)

I rent one good movie obviously after checking out reviews per week. I usually prefer to go out with friends to watch the movies on first day.

I use Google news and filter news from my interests that includes AI, technology, business, entrepreneurship, investments, startups, graphene and Nano technology. I visit tech blogs, usually techchrunch for my source of information. I use Google reader to get latest feeds from my sources.

And you know what? I get much more quality information than I can get from ABC or Fox. I filter my sources because I don’t want to watch Kim Kardashian’s publicity stunt or someone getting mugged in Pakistan.

So, I hope you got an idea about how I manage myself without the cable or satellite TV. :)

You know, in Igniter we teach people about getting a break through and changing themselves completely. I teach people about re-inventing themselves and give them specific steps on how to do it.

And if you have reached here after reading this whole post, you know what I mean. I want you to change this part of your life and re-create it. Use the above model and trash your TV.
